It’s tax season and if you are lucky enough to be getting a refund you might be thinking about getting an new smartphone. Smartphones don’t have to cost an arm and a leg with a 2-year contact anymore. Walmart Family mobile has a variety of choices of smartphones under $100 that don’t need a contract and have one of the lowest priced unlimited plans on the market. It’s important for most people to max your tax refund. Why not do this with a new phone and money saving plan to keep in touch with family and friends at a low unlimited plan price. You might even buy a new phone for the entire family.
I easily found a variety of choices for new smartphones and information on the Walmart Family Mobile plan in the wireless department in Walmart.
If you’re all about value, then mosey on up to T-Mobile’s Nokia Lumia 521. For under $100 off-contract at Walmart the Windows Phone 8 device brings on solid performance and Nokia’s signature apps for a bargain price. A great way to max your tax refund with plenty leftover to get some other goodies.
You’ll find Nokia’s Here Maps and Here Drive apps with turn-by-turn directions, Nokia Music, which does song mixes, and various apps to enhance the native camera experience. Lenses, apps that hook into the camera app, add extra shooting modes and options like Panorama and Smart Shoot, nice touches for otherwise bare-bones hardware.
Speaking of software, the Nokia Lumia 521 is a Windows Phone 8 OS at its base but includes all of Nokia’s custom software that helps set this phone apart from other manufacturers’ Windows phones. The OS has all Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS connections you’d expect, plus support for multiple e-mail inboxes and social networks (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
Although the 5-megapixel camera has no flash, it took pretty decent photos but wouldn’t expect you to buy it for the camera alone. Those buying on a budget would be pleased with the added camera features on this phone. Images looked better when taken in scenarios with abundant, even lighting. It’s obviously a step-down in screen and camera quality compared to the other Nokia Lumia phones (I really want to try the Lumia 1020 with a 41MP camera) but great for those on a budget or needing multiple phones off-contract to keep the entire family in touch.
Buy the Lumia 521 if you…
-Want one of the lowest-cost smartphones under $100
-Seek a handset off-contract in the Walmart Family Mobile devices
-Value a strong camera with HD video capture
-Enjoy the Windows Phone ecosystem
-Want to Max Your Tax Refund
Skip the Lumia 521 if you…
-Prioritize 4G LTE speeds (not available)
-Seek slimmer, more-sophisticated hardware (hold out for T-Mobile’s Nokia Lumia 1020 or above)
-Decide that price is not an issue
Don’t miss out on a great chance to max your tax refund with the Walmart Family Mobile unlimited plans and a new Nokia Lumia 521.
