The Importance of Nutrition & Healthy Snacks For Kids: Donate to Make a Difference! #Dole4Kids #FeedFL
I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and to raise awareness of Champions for Kids project by Dole.
Champions for Kids
As school is about to begin around the country, it’s important to be aware that 1 in 5 children don’t know when their next meal will be coming. I was recently given the opportunity to support and raise awareness of the Champions for Kids project. Champions for Kids connects children with the resources and opportunities they need to lead healthy, active lives. It’s a global movement of people who commit to improving the lives of children in their communities.
My son helped collect the donations and test the Dole products. It taught him the value of social good and about some healthy snacks needed for quality nutrition.
He was a big fan of the Dole Fruit Squish’ems, especially with the trick of freezing them. We learned about this trick on their website, where you can find coupons too. http://Dole.com/fruitsquishems
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida #FeedFL
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is the organization that I’m gathering donations for to help Central Florida kids get healthy and nutritious snacks. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 500 partner agencies in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. It has programs geared towards kids, such as, the Hi-Five Kids Pack Program that provides nutritious meals to needy children who do not have access to school cafeterias during the weekend and Kids Cafe, an after school program that provides nutritious meals to children from low-income families in a safe, secure environment. It has an amazing new facility in Orlando where that I dropped off my collections of Dole goodies.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is also the Florida Blogger and Social Media Conference’s (FLBlogCon) FLBlogging for Good project. I’m helping raise awareness of the need for donations needed to help feed the families of Central Florida.
I’m calling for bloggers, educators, and other families to help collect additional health snacks, like Dole Fruit Cups and Dole Squishums, in support of Dole’s Champion for Kids program. I plan on continuing to collect health snacks for kids at FLBlogCon on September 21, 2013. Look for a collection box at the registration table.
