Food Trucks Unite for a Cause in Apopka
The Apopka Food Truck Round Up is about to hit Apopka’s Kit Land Nelson Park by storm on Thursday, October 6th. This event is hosted by the City of Apopka every 1st Thursday from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM, but be warned certain items will sell out early in the night.
This month is special for me! We will be working with the food trucks and City of Apopka to help raise money for WALK-N-ROLL® for Spina Bifida – Team Chance through your donations at each of the food trucks. Don’t forget to bring some extra cash or change to donate to this cause at the participating food trucks.

Who is Chance?
Chance was born on February 22, 2011 with spina bifida.
Spina bifida is a condition that affects the spine and is usually apparent at birth. It is a type of neural tube defect. Spina bifida can happen anywhere along the spine if the neural tube does not close all the way. The backbone that protects the spinal cord does not form and close as it should. This often results in damage to the spinal cord and nerves.
Chance was born with myelomeningocele, the most severe type of spina bifida, where an opening in his back was present at birth. Due to this defect he underwent surgery when he was only about four hours old to repair the defect and at only a week old underwent a surgery to place a shunt due to hydrocephalus (additional fluid on the brain) that commonly develops in spina bifida patients. He’s since undergone a total of nine surgeries and has proven what a strong little guy he is. Despite all the challenges he’s faced in his short life he’s proven to be such a happy little guy who is such a blessing.
