Kickstarter Poppy turns any iPhone into a 3D camera
I don’t just search Kickstarter for mind blowing technology that could change the world. I really love finding fun geeky gadgets like Poppy, which is a cute little device that lets you view and record 3-D photos and videos from your iPhone.
Poppy is one of the newest little gadget to go up on Kickstarter, offering up a new fun toy for anyone who likes to shoot or view 3-D video. It’s priced to sell for $49, within reach for pretty much anyone who wants new toy or different gift for that gadget love that has everything.
Poppy looks kind of like an over-sized Viewmaster (that 3-D photo viewing thing you had as a kid).
Poppy works the same way as a Viewmaster, but instead of putting the rotating disk in a slot, you plug in the iPhone. Then you flip the front half of the device over to align it with the phone’s camera, and ta-da! You’re able to shoot and view 3-D.
The gadget works through the science of mirrors, which eliminates the need for experience electronic components and batteries. All images and videos are recorded so that they can be viewed from your phone.
The masterminds behind Poppy are looking to raise $40,000 on Kickstarter (already have received $116,00 in funding). Make sure you kick in a little green to get one before it closes on July 26th. They plan to ship by the end of the year, if all goes as planned.
