Orlando Startup Fuelzee Makes Top 15 for Global Startup Battle #gsb2012
The second Startup Weekend Orlando was held November 9th-11th at Voxeo in Downtown Orlando. The weekend started with over 30 short pitches in which 12 companies would pitch their business on Sunday in four short minutes to a group of judges to be named the top startup from Orlando. This time the winner would battle it out internationally for a chance at winning the Global Startup Battle, with lots of great prizes.
Startup Weekend is a great learning experience for business minded individuals, developers, and designers in creating a startup over a single weekend. The same type of format happens each Startup Weekend. Anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. Mentors (my 3rd time being a mentor) from a variety of different areas step in to assist teams and keep them on track. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

The final pitches were delivered on Sunday night with Fuelzee earning the top spot and just 24 hours to create a 90 second video with a 15 word description to post on the Global Startup Battle page for international voting.
“Buying gas sucks, but Fuelzee makes it better.”
Watch for yourself to learn what Fuelzee is all about:
Fuelzee made the top 15 with 3,476 votes. Now we wait to hear about the winner from the jury of professionals. Keep an eye out for more news on Global Statup Battle Facebook.
Whether Fuelzee wins or not, I’m sure we will be hearing more about this company’s development soon.
