Blogging for Good: Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida #CFLGood

This year at Central Florida Blogger Conference (#CFLBlogCon) we decided to do some social good with our social media influence for our local community. I’m going to do my part in spreading the word by spreading the word about 1 of the 6 local non-profits featured each week.

What is  “Blogging for Good” presented by the Rollins Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership Center?

It  is a social media campaign where bloggers raise awareness about local nonprofits and encourage their readers to enter a raffle. Raffle dollars go directly to the charities. By uniting the social media power of over 250 bloggers, we promise to make a difference! http://www.cflbloggingforgood.com/

Chance and I

This week I’ll focus on another non-profit that is close to my heart: Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida (SBACFL). I have been supporting SBACFL since last year when a co-worker and friend’s son Chance (pictured with me) was born with Spina Bifida and ask me to use some social good in promoting their cause. I help promote and raise funds for the Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida. One event I received the support of local food truck to raise dollars: Food Trucks Unite for a Cause in Apopka

The Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida (SBACFL) is comprised of group of families and individuals with Spina Bifida, professionals and community volunteers, working to provide resources, educate, network, advocate and to bring about public awareness of Spina Bifida and folic acid’s role in reducing the risk of having a baby with Spina Bifida.

Donate Now

Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida depends upon public donations to support its mission to promote awareness about Spina Bifida and to enhance the lives of those affected.  With your help they will continue to change lives through advocacy, education and public awareness, taking action to enrich the present and inspire hope for the future.

Upcoming Event

The Walk -n- Roll for Spina Bifida is the organization’s largest fundraiser happening on October 27,2012 at Blue Jacket Park in Orlando, FL It’s a one day walk dedicated to raising funds for programs and services to benefit those living with Spina Bifida. In communities across America, they are gathering to make a difference and to show their belief that a better tomorrow is within their reach.

  1. Thank you sooo much for doing this to promote awareness about Spina Bifida. I am the mother of a 7 year old with Spina Bifida. He’s a twin. At age 3, he had endured 12 surgeries related to Spina Bifida….his twin sister to date has never even had ear infection. (Praise God.) Yet, it is my son who shines from our family with his good attitude in all situations and who has made everything I have dreaded for him to endure so much easier than I ever imagine because of that great attitude.

    • I’m always amazed to see the positive attitude and willingness to give back to help push forward for all those in need of help, assistance, or just someone to relate to. I’m just trying to do my part and help with a little social good.
