Starter Studio: Orlando’s New Accelerator for Startups

Orlando’s newest, exciting development in the entrepreneurship scene is the grand opening of Starter Studio, a three-month long intensive accelerator program for startups.

The accelerator was founded by Gregg Pollack of Envy Labs/Code School, Christine Ortiz of Lawton Chiles Prepatory School and Startup Weekend,  Orrett Davis of Arsenal Venture Partners and Startup Weekend, Dan Mcgaw of Code School, and Shakirra Meghjee of Beauty Pulse. The team banded together in order to help the Orlando startup community thrive, and decided that Starter Studio would be a great way to put Orlando on the map for entrepreneurship.

Starter Studio will neighbor Envy Labs and Code School in the GAI building in the heart of Downtown Orlando. The custom creative space is being built-out this summer, and the accelerator curriculum will feature legal and financial advice, education, mentorship, technical resources, Friday night dinners and founder talks, and a shared social space between Starter Studio, Envy Labs, and Code School. Students in the inaugural class will benefit from the creative atmosphere, expertise of Envy Labs/Code School, and access to a network of investors and influential decision-makers. It is free to apply and applications are being accepted now. All tech startups are welcome to apply and can be in any stage of development.

“We’ve seen business accelerators pop up across the state from Miami’s Venture Hive™ to Tampa Bay WaVE center,” Gregg Pollack, Starter Studio cofounder, said. “We’ve studied those models and we’re doing our best to create a space in Orlando where startups can thrive.”

Starter Studio will also host events open to the public, including three educational talks every week covering technical and business topics, and large networking events every month.

You can be notified about Starter Studio’s free events, apply for the three month program, or get more information about being a mentor/sponsor by joining the mailing list at StarterStudio.com.

The first three-month round in the program will run from July 29 to November 1.
