Sketching with the Jot Pro: An Affordable Precise Stylus

Sketching with Jot Pro 1

Stylus have come a long way for tablets, such as the iPad. Stylus use to be a rubber ended stick not made for smooth writing or drawing, especially decent sketches. A number of Kickstarters began to create a better stylus, such as Jot  and JaJa, hit the jackpot of success on Kickstarter and continued to improve their products. These new stylus utilize a precision disc instead of a rubber point at the end. I personally packed the JaJa on Kickstarter, which is a higher end stylus with pressure sensitivity, but I decided that I wanted something a little simpler and smaller for normal quick sketches at events to tag along with my iPad Mini.

The Jot Pro is the much more affordable option ($29.99 instead of $89.99) for those who don’t need the precision of pressure sensitivity. The Jot Pro feels more like a pen and paper for sketching and writing on my iPad Mini compared to the old stylus. I’m able to sketch quicker and more persist than with older stylus. It not exactly like paper and pen but you learn to use it the same way very quickly. I’m typically using Procreate app for my sketching, which includes a variety of different brush/stroke options and utilizes layers. More on that app soon in my App of the Week posts.

Jot Pro

The Jot Pro Features:

  • Smaller Precision Disc: The precision disc acts like your finger, except it lets you see exactly where your mark will be made. Now, it’s even smaller. Less disc, more ballpoint accuracy. The best stylus experience on touch screens just got better.
  • Dampening Tip: The new sound dampening tip simulates the natural contact of writing with a pen on paper. This means your strokes will be quieter when note-taking or sketching.
  • Ballpoint Accuracy: The ballpoint makes a finer line than fat rubber tips. It attaches to the Precision Disc, giving you up to a 45 degree writing angle.
  • Magnetic Cling: Jot Pro magnetically attaches to your tablet for storage and transport. *iPad 2 and New iPad only.
  • Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging
  • Heavy Metal: Once Jot Pro is in your grip, the quality is unmistakable. The durable aluminum and steel gives Jot superior conductivity and craftsmanship comparable to any luxury pen.
